Happy New Year!

Date Posted: 26/09/2017

September has always seemed more like the beginning of the New Year than January. Much of that is driven by the DNA of back to school. Even though our kids have long since left the nest, new backpacks and school supplies on sale trigger a core response: time to reassess and make new beginnings. A fitness class to get into shape after too much summer lounging? What about a line dancing course? (If you’ve seen my two left feet, you’d cheer.) A book club maybe?

Of course, September meant the launch of a new season here at Theatre Orangeville, our 24th to be exact. We had a fabulous line up…two of them world premieres supported by our New Play Development (NPD) Fund, which is why we love Nancy Frater and her team at BookLore so much. Nancy is sponsoring a three-part Authors on Stage event, with proceeds going to NPD…authors and readers helping playwrights and actors…pretty cool cross-pollination!  The first event was a great success featuring media stars Carol Off (Host of CBC Radio One’s As It Happens) and Doug Saunders (International Affairs Columnist, The Globe and Mail).

Check out the POSTER for details of the next two events, mark your calendars for Wednesday Oct. 25th at 7 pm at the Opera House featuring Linden MacIntyre (Scotiabank Giller Winner), Linda Spalding (Governor General Winner) and Alison Pick (Man Booker Prize Nominee).
